Thanks

Well it has been a week since the Festival and I am just coming up from air long enough to write my formal thank you to all of you.

First off, everyone who came out in the rain are my motherfunkers for life! Y’all are the troopers as Kane so eloquently put it that ‘keep Hip-Hop alive.’ Your spirit is why we all do this. From Kane to Rhymefest to Strange Fruit to the volunteer who stood out in the rain giving directions.

Thanks to the State Police and NYPD for being cool the whole day. Even though y’all booed them at the end of the day. Lol. Thanks to the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy and Empire Fulton Ferry State Park. And of course the RSG and Brooklyn Bodega team.

Thanks to Big Daddy Kane, Scoop, CL, Craig G, Lupe, Uncle Ralph, Cap Cee, Eclipse, Rik, Sucio, Strange Fruit, The Procussions, Maya, and Panacea (please tell me I didn’t forget anyone).

The Festival was perhaps the most rewarding experience in my professional career.
I love that it was/is free. I love that it features our Hip-Hop elders as well as the future. I love that I looked into the crowd and saw women, men, young, old, Black, white, Asian. I saw Philly, Fort Greene, Soundview, Toronto, Bed Stuy, and Atlanta. I love that my man Greg’s mom was in the front row for 6 hours.
My pops was in the house. Miles Boogie was in the house. My brother was in the house. And I met Uncle Ralph. That is what it is all about.

And the best part is that when CL went into “T.R.O.Y.” I had my son in my arms.

Life is good y’all and Hip-Hop is good. Make sure you enjoy both.

Thanks for coming out and I’ll see you next year.

"Is the exit that way? Okay I was just asking. Have my $40 million dollar check sent to the Hamptons. Good luck with Jalen and Eddy (snicker)"

" I am so hot I can't stand to look at myself in the mirror" says Nelly backstage at the Today Show
you think Timbo hit that? He lost mad weight - good for him

Exit, Stage Left

-You knew it was gonna happen. Larry out, Isaiah in
Will it work?

-Trying to call my man Strahan a homo thug. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I am not the manager of the White Sox or anything

-Y’all heard the new Nas song?

-Saw Nelly Furtado and Timbaland on the Today show. I love her. She is cute as hell. I know it’s pop, but I was feeling ‘Like A Bird’
So on this new song she is straight rhyming? Hmmmm. Whatever, she is a MILF

-Two days until the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. See y’all there. I got work to do
No more tickets. Sorry, but still come and hang out in Empire Fulton Ferry Park

I’m gone

Russell is the man

Russell Simmons recently announced the September launch of his new fragrance Atman. The Def Jam Records cofounder and estranged wife Kimora Lee Simmons will donate 100 percent of the proceeds of the fragrance to charity. According to Simmons, singer Alicia Keys' Keep A Child Alive program will be the first charity to benefit from the sale of Atman. "I never thought about selling a fragrance," Simmons told AllHipHop.com. "I'm not that type of dude, but when I started developing the scent two years ago, I enjoyed the process." "Atman," which is Sanskrit for higher self or god, is gaining a healthy buzz despite critics who told Simmons how scents "described as spiritual don't test well" and that "anything about God was a failure." "The fact that it could generate millions to give is my greatest inspiration," Simmons added. Atman is scheduled to debut Sept. 3 and will be sold at Macy's and everywhere Phat Farm and Baby Phat is sold.

Warriors!!! come out and play

Is Superman Gay?
Some say he is gay, some say he is a Christ figure.
That outfit is definitely not very hetero when you think about it. I thought the new movie was gonna kill the red and blue suit. Maybe go with some fly black and white joint.
Isn’t that in the comics?

I like Field Mob

Now I love Mark Cuban (Joey), but he is crying like Miles at bed time right now. Blaming everyone except his defense for letting D Wade whoop that ass.
And getting the rules (about the back court call) wrong and showing his ignorance. That is why we let the refs do the reffing.
If the Mavs lose you know he will not chalk up it up to the better team winning. It will be some well thought out blog post about the thermo dynamics of David Stern’s mind.

I do believe Miami broke their back the other night. They should not have won. They need to close in 6 because if Dallas wins Game 6 they will gain their heart back.
Riley needs to drop the hammer.

Maya Azucena on WNYC’s Soundcheck today. Wonderful job

Word is we are gonna do a NY1 interview as well, on Friday

it's on and popping this weekend!

Fresh from the world of WTF!?

Rap star Apple's CEO Steve Jobs to produce a line of affordable home computers to inner-city residents. According to a recent article in Forbes, 50 Cent, born Curtis Jackson and his high powered manager Chris Lighty, of Violator management are negotiating the branding deal with the computer /software giant. "I'm creating a foundation that will be around for a long time, because fame can come and go or get lost in the lifestyle and the splurging," Fifty Cent explained to Forbes. "I never got into it for the music. I got into it for the business." The company hopes to close the gap between sales in iPods, which have earned over $3 billion verse $2 billion from software and personal home computer sales. Behind Jobs' leadership and the runaway success of the iPod and iTunes, Apple controls over 80% of the digital music market.

Is it right the most popular rapper in the game (sort of) says "I never got into it for the music"?

Besides how stupid I think an 50 Cent Apple computer will be, I do like the idea of making affordable computers for inner city kids.

However, this is taking the 50 branding a little too far. Vitamin Water - OK, Reebok - for sure, Video game - i guess. The 50 PowerMac? SLOW DOWN!

Taking my boys, The Brooklyn Admirals up to Beantown tonight for a little Lacrosse tourney-word

Can I tell you how much I love the Cristal boycott? Finally these millionaires are throwing some weigt around. That dude is gonna rue the day he didn't respect Hip-Hop.

he should have consulted Tommy, Courvosier, Jacob the Jeweler, and Chrysler before he opened his pie hole.

And speaking of Jacob you all know he got bagged, right?

you stay classy...PLANET EARTH
